Logging GPS data

Post by Adam »

Most GPS units use an emulated com port when connected via bluetooth.
Would it be possible to record the GPS data?

Could come in handy for calculating force, etc

Cheers

only would be considered if there was a common standard which we could read from

otherwise if its proprietary for each unit I wouldnt consider it

do you have any further information about this?

Hi Matt,

Most GPS units speak NMEA format
http://www.gpsinformation.org/dale/nmea.htm seemed to be a handy reference, but looks to be a bit more complex then I thought :(

My idea was to be able to get some more stats to calculate acceleration etc to better get an idea between tunes when tuning on the street, those kinds of things.

looks quite complication. most of these things are done inside the unit. the best i can do is pull lat/long data etc but not acceleration points etc like you might expect
