AFM Resize issues :S

Post by Someguy »

Hey all,

Had nistune a while now and each time I've done work to my Skyline nistune has been pretty good. Recently I began to notice my RB20 running rich (very rich). A quick look in to Nistune showed the MAF voltage maxing out and the computer on load reading from the end of the map where I'm guessing the most fuel output is.

I finally got around to installing a Z32 AFM and wiring it up. After resizing AFM it seemed ok only the car felt fairly ordinary to drive. I watched the MAF voltage, it seems to be pretty good, now gets to about 4volts at max (14psi/7000rpm) which is the 2nd last colum in the table. Knowing this and checking with a mates wideband we knew it was a little lean.

We got it on the Dyno today and on the first run we got 103rwkw. Last time it was on the dyno 170rwkw with very rich readings. We checked the car top to bottom and double checked the dyno all seems in order. All the AFR were fine.. the car seemed to be ok, all beit sedate for its modifications.

I remember some time ago someone mentioned this AFM causing issues.. and the K-Const being a problem.. although the tuner (who has tuned alot of PowerFC skylines, but not many Nistune) said it shouldn't be an issue as long as the Air-Fuel-Ratios were coming up on the dyno ok.

Any ideas? He jumped on the dyno in his r33 and put 490BHP out which was ~10hp of his known runs/tunes. So I don't think its a dodgy dyno.

As I drove 100ks up the fwy the car didn't miss/hickup/run hotter/colder then normal. Full tank of BP ultimate, new plugs, oil change 2 days ago. New fuel filter.

Car is a 1990 R32 Skyline. RB20, with RB25 turbo, 3" Turbo Back (dump/cat/exhaust), Front Mount IC and Walbro Fuel pump with a Z32 AFM. Runs as 12PSI as a daily setup. From what I gather I should be moving closer to 200rwkw..

Failing anything obvious is there a Sydney or newcastle Nistune specialist anyone can recommend?
