Knock detection readout

I know a few guys use ear phones hooked up to the knock sensor to "hear" the knock.

Is there any way to port that noise through the mic input on a laptop and have a voice recorder in the software "listening" to the engine?

Let me know what your guys' opinions are on this.

we are looking into different ways of getting knock detection

there is a device in the thread below, but needs some kind of controller to adjust gain etc. thinking about it but would be another project once we get a chance
