use S14 SR20det ECU on CA18DET ???

Post by streetbike »

Hi all !
As switching from sequential to full group injection makes lots of probleme with injectors higher than 1000cc on the CA18DET ECU, and I must use 1600cc on my car because of the 30psi boost and E85 fuel used ...
I'm planning to use a SR20DET ECU from S14 ( 75f00 ) wich is only sequential injection.

I have verified the wiring of both ECU and almost everything is at the same place
the only thing I don't know is the difference between both CAS ?? anyone knows if they are compatible ?

any idea are welcome .. thank you.

I don't know if this helps or not but I've seen some guys using some S14 SR20DET Power FC's on the S13 CA18DET

as for your question... I don't know...

very usefull information !!! thank you !!
So it will work .... the only thing that will be a problem now is that the sr20det ecu seems to not be capable of handle more than 8000rpm .... and my engine takes 8700rpm .

I think an external rev limiter would help, like Bee-R.
I also want to use S14 SR20DET ECU on my CA18DET,
If you have sucessfully running your CA18 with S14 ECU, please let me know, thanks !

Looks like pins for coils vary slightly between the two (coils 1/2 OK, coils 3/4 different). Easy to fix though.

Idle control valve is in a different place. This may or may not bother you.

And of course you'll need to wire in a consult port. No big deal there.

You could also take advantage of the fact that the S14 ECU will control your rad fan, although switching is on at 95 degrees and off again at 91 degrees. Not ideal but works...

So it should work with a couple of tweaks. Not sure on the 8000 rpm bit. Will need to bench test that. Can't remember if S14 is one of the limited ones.

S14 is pure batch fire, not sequential inj.

I think the S14 ECU, the pure batch fire is the main reason to use, can do nothing with CA18 ecu sequential to batch fire lean spot.

pure batch fire on sr20 ??? bad news .... with 1600cc injectors it meens less than 1.0ms of injection time at idle !!!

are you sure of that ?

Good injectors like Bosch/I.D. should have latency less then .8ms at 14V

in bottom of page is dead time table didn't try but reading very good thing about them.

these injectors are known awesome but their price is way too hight .... and also I already have my injectors ( old bosch 1600cc low Z with peak and hold driver box)

I have searched for informations on sr20 injection and on the s14 it is batch fire for start and error mode, but on normal conditions it is sequential :

please excuse the french file ..

Yes, I've seen that diagram many times. And it's correct for CA18. But I can tell you the S14 is batch-fire all the time. I have a bench test rig with injectors connected and you can distinctly hear batch fire. And S14 DET does it 100% of the time on 74Fxx and 69Fxx series ECU's.

CA18DET coil 1,2,3,4 = pins 1,2,3,11
S14 SR20 coil 1,2,3,4 = pins 1,2,11,12

also:

CA18DET AAC valve = pin 106
S14 SR20 AAC Valve = pin 4

I have seen for pin 106.

thank you for 11 and 12 !

I will test it to see if it runs best with my 75f00 ECU than ca18 ecu . maybe batch fire will work fine all the time !

will tell you when I test it. a big thank you for the help !
