Knock Warning Panel for Type 1 boards.

Post by wilsonthesphere »

Hello all,

I trying to find out is the knock warning panel is working in the Type 1 boards for the Z31 VG30E firmware I have the 87T ECU. Not looking for detected knock to change timing or fuel table but more of a user information so I can make the appropriate changes. I heard physically tapping on the knock sensor causing it to trigger anyone have better suggestion.

Thanks,

Juan

Hi Juan

ECUs with knock warning panel support

Z31 300ZX VG30DE 1987
HR31 Skyline RB20ET
F31 Leopard VG20DET
HR31 Skyline RB20DET 1988-1989
J30 Maxima VG30E
A31 Cefiro RB20DET (Early)
HCR32 Skyline RB20DET
ECR32 Skyline RB25DE
Z31 300ZX RB20DET 1988-1989
A31 Cefiro HCR32 RB20DET (Late)
Z31 300ZX RB20DET 1987
(0x007F)

Z31 300ZX VG30 1986-1989
Z31 300ZX VG30 1988-1989
CR31 Skyline RB30E 1986-1989
VL Turbo RB30ET
(0x008D)

S13/RS13/U12 Silvia/180SX CA18DET
(0x1054)

The address listed is the knock flag address which holds the DTC flag and if knock is set/clear (bit set is dependent on ECU)

So yes yours is supported. If you tap the knock sensor, it should increase the count in the 'TRACE' window for 'knock count' if your board has the firmware to support it (most should since mid 2009)

Other vehicles listed are due to me not finding the code to increase the counter. Knock strategies changed with later model sensors (Z32, SR20, R34 etc) where there is no separate knock filter board in the ECU

I've managed to identify the S13 SR20 timing retard strategy from knock but still considering to develop a patch routine to add a separate counter and add this to the consult stream.

Thanks for the Reply Matt

I brought your wonderful board back in 2007.

Does this below what the firmware is if not were to I find it.
16k REV3+ Board Version 1
ECU: 23710-26P00

I asked the local nistune tuner in Miami , FL with a Base image programmer but he told me he didn't have it yet.

Thanks,

Juan

Juan

It would be definately after you purchased that board. Latest ROM pack on our website have ENTs which have all been after 2009 so 26P00 (or 26P0F if you grab the feature pack version) will work fine

Your board will need the /CE line from programmer jumpered to the Pin4 (LHS) pin on Type 1 CPU connector when programming (be a Rev3 board?) when programming
