Changing injectors... high/low impedance.

Post by TUXEDO »

Hi everyone. I have done a few searches but I'm just getting confused.

I have a VL and I'm running RX7 low impedance injectors, I didn't install any resistors and it runs well.

I want to go to E85 so I've been shopping for bigger injectors. All the good quality injectors with a good spray pattern are high impedance. Can I run high impedance injectors? I'm looking at ID1000's or Siemens 875cc items.

High impedance have a higher resistance and use less current. I am not sure how they would react being controlled with 1/4 the drive of factory injectors

bosch 1000's high's and are a treat in the VLT.. we're still running PULP.
go to 1400+ for E85.

I have used the 875 siemens deka (110324 i think) they come up as around 750's when dialed in.
no where large enough for any future modifications. we smashed them at 8000 on 19psi in RB20.

Excellent. I was unsure if lower drive with higher impedance would cause issues

High impedance ECU with low impedance injectors needs resistors to avoid driver burnout, but the opposite we were never sure of

So you're saying you are running high impedance 1000cc injectors without issue? That is good. I was chatting to an injector dealer and he told me that he has customers that have bought high impedance injectors for use with NisTune, I just wasn't sure if he was trying to make an extra buck off me :)

nistune hardware or software has no relevance on injector impedance.

its the injectors (load) impedance that needs to be matched to the ECU injector driver control circuit.

Thanks guys, I ended up going for the Rochester 1000cc low impedance injectors.

my tune is set for 444cc injectors i think there 480cc. how do i change the size in nistune
i think there bosch 036.
dont know if this is the right place to post

Don't forget the resistors!

adjust K constant and watch AFRs

Then check TP scaling after a run as per our training tuning documnents and adjust before retuning maps

Sorry for dum qs lol so with tipe on board vl turbo it is possable to run high impedence injectors?

Also I read some where that low impedence where better some think about they are stronger to open if you have your fuel pressure cranked up

I looking to buy some 800cc to 1000cc very soon just don't want to waste money

As trusty VL uses 3EA/EM/TA/TM they all use low imp and can easily use high imp also.

I use the Bosch 1000cc high imp on my Hiroshima holden and they are easy to dial in.
