Plan of action for first start/tune attempt?

If it isnt a problem or a suggestion it probably goes here.

Well, what should I check/do at this point? Is it somewhat inconsequential that the car would bounce between the main and knock map at idle? I'm not necessarily sure if it would bounce between the two maps at WOT

*edit* is the knock sensor the only "input" the ECU looks at in order to go to the knock map? Would there be some other parameter that could put the car onto the knock map? Like a bad ignition coil or spark plug or something?

I'd be double checking that it is actually going to knock maps. When they jump to knock maps they don't jump back to main maps until IGN is turned off. So you may well be chasing a red herring. As long as you don't have a knock DTC.

What I do is fill the high load part of the knock IGN map with something like 5 degrees. Go tuning. If it jumps to the knock map you will know instantly cos power will go very soft. Without hurting anything.
