Matt, I have been looking for a good and reliable knock counter variable in the Z32 code, but haven't found one yet. So I made another modification to the code, which basically is a "knock-mode" indication: it will switch on the check engine light as soon as the knock maps are activated fo...

>> thats strange. i just cannot get the knock DTC code to appear on my Z32 ECUs on the bench

you also need an RPM signal for at least 5 seconds or so.

hi Matt, I know it's an old thread, but I currently have access to a 1996 (OBD2) Z32 ECU (tuned by JWT)

let me know if you are still looking for any info.

those values are bogus values and can usually be found in closed loop areas.
(so the ecu aims for stoich, whatever the value in the map is)

the Z32 ECU can not run anything leaner then 14.7 AFR, unless you change the K-val or latency to incorrect values

you could contact Maciej Nowakowski @ ESS racing He has developped a standalone TCU for the 300ZX/Z32 that has several programmable variables (shiftpoints, linepressure, etc.) and it can also be set into a "manual" mode, so you can shift manually using paddle shifters http://www.es-ab.se/e...

for the Z32 I once programmed something that was able to calculate semi accurate BHP/dyno printouts, using constants like VQMAP & kval (injectorsize) and logfiles of the RPM, AFM voltage and injector dutycycle. But using these variables makes it very car/engine specific. Also to make it more acc...

can't help you with a 41p11, although I have a 41P14 (slightly newer revision)
Let me know if you want that one instead

>> Although a 40P01 map works

I doubt that, as the 41p series are twinturbo roms and 40p are Non Turbo roms

>> It's a 16bit, yeah.. that's a stock Z32 pre 93 model isn't it? pre 93/94 are 8-bit (eprom type ECU's) later ECU's are 16 bit if you have the 8-bit ecu, the timing behaviour in the graphs you posted isn't normal. In that case the CAS is the first suspect, but your rpm signal looks normal. have you...

does this car have a 16 bit ECU ?
..in that case this timing behaviour is normal at idle.

you could try resetting the closed throttle switch setting in the ecu (disconnect the seperate connector from the TPS for 5 seconds with the engine running)

Hi Pete, it's definately caused by the 54c00 base code/firmware in my Nistune board. As soon the engine gets at 96C all seems ok as long the car is just idling. Once you try to rev the car. it starts to hunt between 1000-1500 RPM and will get past 1500 RPM with great difficulty then it hits the 2000...

RNN14 54C00 board issue

It took me a while to figure this one out, but it looks like there's a corruption or some other fault in the code/firmware that is programmed into type3 boards that come with the 54C00 base image: once the coolant temperature reaches 96 Celcius the ECU goes into emergency mode and the car becomes un...
