Re: hi! from a newbie in canada. rb25det neo, in 240sx

Just reading this now.... Sounds like a great project. I've done quite a few NEO engines and I like them a lot. Some points that might help: - Make sure your VCT is working. It makes a big difference. - Don't get greedy on turbo size. GTX3071 is a nice size and will give around 500hp. I did one with...

Re: S14a SR20DET bucking at cruisung

Good to hear that you're getting somewhere with this.

I'll have a play around on the bench with the load values and see if anything can be done.

Definitely try decreasing IGN values in that area as this can have a major affect.

Re: S14a SR20DET bucking at cruisung

Hi Pinto, I've seen SR's do this a few times. Mostly with aftermarket cams as Louis mentioned (hi Louis!). Things that will make it worse: - cams with more overlap - leaner mixtures - advanced IGN timing I suspect you have a combination of these. The VTC advances the cam across the midrange but will...

Re: SR20DET Very Rich@ Idle and low load

Hey DC, You've probably fixed this by now but I'd say the tune is "salvageable". And you seem to know what you're talking about. All you'll need is some form of knock monitoring and you should be able to perfect the tune yourself. Latency on those is typically between about 600 and 900us. ...

Re: S13 SR20DET STOCK MAP TP

Yeah looks about right. I usually follow Mr. Nissan's lead these days and reserve the last column for minimised timing, and then set it up so max boost has it just touching the second to last column. Then if the owner "accidentally" turns the boost up it'll go into the minimised timing col...

Re: S13 SR20DET STOCK MAP TP

A stock S13 SR? That is a rare beast! Unfortunately I've got nothing. I have a ton of maps and logs for modified SR's but for a stock one? Not so much. All I've got is that I thought they ran a tad more boost than that - even stock. They have a couple of brass jets in the hoses to the WG actuator th...

Re: Battery voltage fluctuates

Yeah this is pretty common. I see it more and more in logs from RB's these days. I suspect it's an age related thing - from old alternators. New RB's (most R34's) seem to be pretty solid. But older ones (particularly track cars) with RB20's or 25's from R33 often have large fluctuations/noise. You w...

Re: possible tune download?

Hey, which SR20 is it (S13/14/15). DO you have the ECU part number? Then I can send you a tune for the right one!

Re: Voltage drops

Yeah for sure. I've been doing wiring conversion jobs for SR20 into older cars for years so I'm intimately familiar with those wiring looms. Although just the engine loom - obviously the body loom doesn't feature with these jobs. Over the years I've seen S13 looms that people send me go from minty f...

Re: Redtop 2871r and S3 cams only 300whp

It does seem to be struggling hey. Have you checked for boost leaks? That'd be my first thought. After that - is exhaust nice and free flowing? That can affect power pretty badly sometimes. What spark plugs? Probably unlikely but a nice fresh set of copper "7's" is always a good starting p...

Should be fine if it's only at light cruise. As long as it richens up when load is applied.

Re: Base image S14A vs S15

Yeah good question. Short answer is that nobody but Nissan knows. Often what happens is that the car is released with Rev A of the tune. Then as they get customers actually using the local fuel and reporting back with stories of knock and broken engines they start tweaking the tune. So Rev B often h...

Re: Setting Injection Multiplier

Yes, that sounds correct. So you have 600cc injectors.

What should be good for around 500hp depending what max duty cycle you're prepared to run them to.

Re: Setting Injection Multiplier

Saw a good rule of thumb the other day: Injector size (cc/min) / 5 = horsepower (per cyl) So for a 4 cylinder engine running 370cc injectors it'd be: 370/5 * 4 = 296hp Which is probably not too far off the mark. But there are lots of online calculators out there. Just Google "injector size vs h...
