Re: Help diagnosing SR20 engine failure [Tune, Log, Pics]

Thanks PL and all, definitely some blunders which are hard to look back on but at least it makes sense. Car w/ spare SR is currently on the market in California if you know anyone interested!

Help diagnosing SR20 engine failure [Tune, Log, Pics]

This happened about 10 days ago and has been tough to post as I destroyed my motor, but I’m coming to terms with this failure and want to get beyond it by understanding it. I’d appreciate any input on my incident below, particularly on if the failure event is visible in the log and where I went wron...

Connection issue after update to 1.2.98

Hey all, I've been using Nistune 1.2.76 without any issues for a while and recently updated to 1.2.98. It auto prompted to correct the address file (S14 SR) and now it can't connect for the life of it. It say's "can't connect on com port" down in the lower left then walks me through troubl...

Nistune on pocketdevice - Lenovo Ideastick w/ Windows 10 Home

I saw one of these in action recently and was very impressed for it's size. I'm daydreaming about putting a small HDMI display in the radio area and having this thing always hooked up to the ECU. Sensor aquisition, entertainment, camera feeds could all be possibilities down the road. The only drawba...

Rookie question - ever a need to flash ROM or firmware to ECU?

So I've been prompted and performed a lot of Nistune and ROM pack updates but I still never do anything but change maps and constants on the ECU. Is there ever a need to do anything else when these updates happen?

S14 SR ECU for reference.

Re: Feature Pack updates + Information thread

Hey Matt & PL, first off thanks for the new updates and documentation. I've got an 80F00 S14A SR, can I use either the base logic fan control in it or maybe the new fan control feature without updating the board firmware? Right now my fans are wired to come on as soon as my ECU sees power, which...

Re: S14a SR20 IAT sensor?

Is that a statement Matt? I wasn't sure about the physical IAT sensor, I got a motor set imported.

How can that be anyway? Mass calculation is the end all be all that already includes air density change due to temp?

S14a SR20 IAT sensor?

I haven't had an IAT sensor since doing my swap. What's it's role in Nistune management? Should I work towards getting one in?

Thanks guys

Re: Destroyed spark plug input

AFRs from street and track observation were 11.5-12.2 all day. I think I'll aim for 11.5ish from now on. I don't have a dyno sheet, have primarily been street tuning.

I'll get the raw table view, it's drastically lower than my stock map which ran the car in the 9s for AFRs.

Destroyed spark plug input

Hey guys, I was at the track yesterday in northern California. It was hot. Motor is an S14A SR20, all bolt ons, 550cc and Z32 MAF. Car was running excellent, albeit hot (210-220*F (104*C)) until my third session, I had took some pace laps because coolant temps were just getting to hot. When I went t...

Re: s14 s1 map

I've got a wideband, an S14A SR20 on the stock turbo, and would definitely take some input from you Jabran. Maybe we can get a map together/learn some stuff Richard. I am on 550 injectors and a Z32 map, but if theory would have it, you should at least be able to benefit from the fuel map so long as ...

Re: TP not getting read with engine running?

Thanks for feedback guys. I'm on most latest stable - 1.2. Is that option still in there Ben C? Where do you even find it? In the table checklist on consult connect? I don't think I was logging but engine behavior and AFRs seemed normal, I only noticed because I had fuel map trace up and it was stay...
