Re: R32 GTR - Type 2 - Electric Fans

Be very careful using thermos. Most of them won't move as much air as the factory viscous coupled fan.

Re: 1990 180sx consult port

Don't worry - it's not that hard. Local tuners here keep a few Consult ports on hand and wiring them is often done "on the fly" with the car already on the dyno. It's just 3 signal wires plus power and GND.

Re: Z32 injector latency setting 740cc

People seem to get hung up on getting latency set exactly as per injector manufacturer's specs. I can understand this when using aftermarket ECU's with fuel models that rely heavily on an accurate latency number. But in reality I've found that for Nissan ECU's it doesn't matter that much - within re...

Re: sr20det voltage issue ?

Sounds like the alternator is charging but you usually see higher voltages than that. More like 14.5V when revving. Lights on/off shouldn't change things much. On top of what Matt said, make sure your voltage sense wire from the alternator is going to battery. NOT just to 12V on starter etc. The alt...

Nice to have some stuff like this for the mighty CA. Shame we don't see more of them around here in SA.

Re: Replacement Narrowband Lamda sensors.

Was speaking to a mate who runs a workshop this week. He needed an O2 sensor desperately so just used a GM post-cat sensor on a Nissan engine. Reckons it worked great - if anything BETTER than Nissan OEM! Had to fit Nissan connector that's all.

Just sayin...

Re: Replacement Narrowband Lamda sensors.

I usually recommend that people just get either genuine NTK or Bosch sensors. Never had an issue. Avoid the generic ones.

Re: Rich Throttle Transistion

I'm not in the office at present so I can't check the .bin. But I had an interesting tune last night with a similar issue. R32 ECU for R33. It was bogging rich on fast throttle appplication at low rpm. Finished up adjusting the TPmin table by lowering all the values below 2500rpm. Down to about 20 f...

Re: Help diagnosing SR20 engine failure [Tune, Log, Pics]

Just looked up a few of my S14 tunes for T28 stock turbo and most are around around 10 degrees timing in the midrange and then up to to 16 - 18 towards redline. That's on our AUS spec 98 RON juice. Which I think = the 93 octane USA juice.

Re: Help diagnosing SR20 engine failure [Tune, Log, Pics]

Wow - that's harsh. It's a terrible shame to see SR's die like that. Terminal detonation. Get yourself some knock ears. Even a garden hose and some earmuffs will do. Looking at your logs there's one thing that stands out. Your cooling system is marginal at best. It was overheating for most of that m...

Re: Idle stalling TP Load limit decel

Does the car still have the factory BOV's? I've done quite a few GTR's and they all returned to idle nicely until I got one customer who refused to run BOV's. Spent many hours trying to make that one work. Gave up in the end.

Re: Issue out of nowhere: SR20DET bogging above 0.5bar boost

I'd definitely be checking fuel pressure before anything else. This is the most common problem I see on these cars now.

Narrowband will only tell you which side of 14.7:1 you're running. So "rich" can still be 14..4:1!

Re: Issue out of nowhere: SR20DET bogging above 0.5bar boost

It's not just a fuel system issue is it? The numbers don't look entirely bad (IGN timing, Inj time). What are your AFR's doing? Might just be leaning out.

Re: hi! from a newbie in canada. rb25det neo, in 240sx

Just reading this now.... Sounds like a great project. I've done quite a few NEO engines and I like them a lot. Some points that might help: - Make sure your VCT is working. It makes a big difference. - Don't get greedy on turbo size. GTX3071 is a nice size and will give around 500hp. I did one with...
