I recently installed my type one board on my 87 300zx turbo ecu.
I can run the car when I insert the factory chip into the socket, however I cannot run the vehicle with the Nistune board installed and loaded with the factory 87t ROM.
No problems connecting my PC to the board.
Could my problem be that when I purchaced nistune, I intended to install it on an 86 n/a ecu, and I installed it on the 87t ecu instead?

That should be fine using either image (the 84/85 images different story)
Make sure your CPU connector has all 4 wires soldered to the correct chip and correct pin numbers. Having this wrong will stop the board from working
Failing that take a photo and post to this thread of the board install
