have i done wrong?

Post by scttydb411 »

sr20det redtop
550 cc inj
n60 maf
s13 wiring harness
s14 chassis
50f00 ecu with type 3 board

have programmed and re-programmed board using base image programmer and sr20det redtop 50f00 base image, but to no avail. cannot connect via consult. first, found out wires weren't even connected. connected wires from ecu to consult and still no connection based on pinout diag found here in the forums.

discovered how to make ent file with upgraded inj and maf and re-programmed via base image programmer. car still won't start.

what is the normal steps to setup? here's what i'm doing:
1. programmed type 3 board via base image programmer
2. re-soldered j1 and de-soldered pgm
3. car off connect to consult and open nistune
4. key on engine off and try to sync w/ ecu and=not connected
5. led is on when key on engine off, but goes off while trying to crank car
6. last night car would start, but would die out after a few seconds because it was on stock bin (not upgraded for larger injectors or maf)

help me here before i stick a rag in the gas tank and light it up.

So you can now connect to consult OK??

This is a major indicator as it means the ECU is happily running with the NIStune board and maps.

Listen for fuel pump too - a quick pulse (under 1 second) means trouble. If it runs for 3 to 5 seconds after IGN turned on then it's all good.

See the diagnostics document if you haven't already too:

pump primes for a good 5 seconds, but car doesn't start and consult doesn't connect.

i'll look over the guide again to see if there is something i've missed.

Cool. If pump runs for that long then the NIStune board is good and install is good.

Consult should then connect, so sounds like either wiring or maybe driver issue with consult cable.

Have you ever been able to connect at all??

never connected before...this is the first nissan i've done.

device manager recognizes and I followed the install/driver instructions. i'll have my guys check the wiring again and maybe just jump some wires off the ecu connector to connect directly to my consult connector.

worked everything out the day after the last post. turns out when the swap was done at another shop the consult connections were never wired in.

car ended up making 322whp and 284wtq @ 17psi. starts, idles, and drives like stock (with exception for the extra whp).

great product and look forward to tuning many more using nistune.
