Matt, 23710-69F00 board use on 23710-74F10 ECU...?

Post by louiswun »

Due to some reason, my customer give me a ECU with parts number 23710-74F10 (AT), but I have ordered a board for 23710-69F00 (MT) for him. His car already swapped to MT gear box.
The problem is...when the ECU connected, the consult function in Nistune software is work, assume that the soldering process had nothing wrong.
I can change AFM and injectors size, make the idle A/F ration near 14.7, the engine can rev freely to whichever rev, on each time starting, but when it is fully warm up (ie:Water temp over 65C), when I hit the gas padle, the engine cannot rev more than 1,700 rpm and keep cutting my fuel. Feels like the ECU is in limp mode.
I'm not sure if it is in limp mode, because this S14 is not a road car and the meter cluster is mod to video type speed and rev display, his cluster did not have check engine light.

For the rom image , I have tried to start all over again from begining, load address file and load a 23710-69F00 bin file to Nistune, change the AFM to Z32 and change the injectors to 740cc, but the result is the same.
no problem on each time starting, after few minutes of warm up, the engine cannot rev up.

When the problems happen, I can see the O2 signal in Nistune and Nissan data Scan did not move, always shoe lean, but on my Zeitronix wide band, it is no problem.

Is the problem cause by different ECU ID ?
I see a ECU message " CONSULT-DTC-NEW-OK (Starts=0)
What's that mean ?
I have also check the error code from Nisaan Data Scan V1.53 but find nothing, no fault code.

Please see the photo and video I have attached.

(If the video is not yet ready, please wait for a moment.

Please help, I have stuck in this situation for 2 whole days !

Do you think the problem is cause by the 40th pin ?

Matt, I didn't see any connection on the 40th pin to the surface side of the motherboard, but I have soldering again the 40th pin, will try on tomorrow.
Please give some hints to slove this problem.

Hi Louis

You will know if you are in limp mode if the vehicle does not connect to consult. When you have the problem, if you are still talking to consult then ECU is running okay with that board still

I would still reflow that solder joint just to get it working. Also there is no need to solder on both sides of the header. Those holes you solder through have through hole copper holes and plated on both sides

It is sufficient to solder from one side and let the solder 'flow' for a second through the through hole

As for your problem with the RPM cut. The ECU is doing this most likely because of the mismatched ROM images. Probably because the AT ECU doesnt like the MT ROM image in it

Do you have a speed sensor signal? It might be idle RPM cut getting activated. If no speed signal from the transmission this may cause problems

You have a base image programmer there right? What about loading the ENT file for 74F10 and try that out. The more appropriate one would be 74F00 but try the AT one first in this ECU

Thanks Matt,

I did not soldering at both side, I did the soldering from the back side of the motherboard, and let the solder flow from the back to the front.
I use a small screw driver to pry up the black plactic part of the pin hearder to check the solder only. The 40th pin is too less solder but I have add some more now.
I'll try to re-program the board and how it works.

Did the HRC32 23771-11U00 board already re-program (knock issue) ?
Or I need to re-programe it ?

Hi Matt,

I have tried to re-program the board, but I didn't find 74F10 ENT file in the rom pack, so I tried to use 74F00.
I have remove the solder on the jumper J2, connect PGM jumper J4, follow the procedure in the manual, but there is error message showing "Write verify failed", and it stop at 00AF, 30 .

Hi Matt,

I have reboot my computer and the re-program process is done.
I have select 74F00 and will try how its work.

those type 2 boards all had the non-counting knock firmware in them so need to be reprogrammed

Matt,

I know where the problem is.
The ignition switch, pin 45 has damaged. I'll try another ECU tomorrow !

have you fixed the problem. I actualy had the same issue. I think it is do to bad mass airflow wiring.
