If you know what B.S. stands for you know what goes here.

Unique identifier / serial number ?

Post by CoZZm0 »

Hi all, is there any kind of unique identifier / serial number embedded in the ECU's for S13/14/N14/15 type units that would be accessible through consult and would definitely be unique to each unit ?

No there is not. The ENT file put in the board during programming contains the same program regardless of which board.

Ideally if I had thought about it 10 years ago, I could have added a unique identifier during programming (it would change each program, but would have to be based from a date/timestamp) but the memory location would have to vary depending on the ECU which in itself is difficult to implement

Aside from having a Nistune board installed the base ECU itself doesn’t have anything either ?

No it doesn't. Only the later models (FLASH) would have the VIN encoded with it
