Type 4 issue.

Post by kenbam »

Hi Matt, type 4 board in my c34 stagea.

I seem to be having some trouble holding maps in the board.
Nistune shows revision revision number, adjustment of fuel maps is possible, but it seems that once i disconnect laptop it reverts to some previous maps, and a/f ratios are at some point 1-2 full point higher, ie 12:1 laptop connected and 13.5 at the same load points with laptop disconnected. Am i missing something.

Its not the factory settings its reverting to either as i am running a z32 AFM, and it idles fine.

What happens when you hit the burn button? Any errors?

No, says that its been done successfully.
Even try sending the entire bin file to ECU, same thing.

Anything i can check?

Can you enable debug log for me?

Then restart Nistune, do load file, then sync to ECU (LHS button) and then burn and then sync from ECU to PC

I will check the hex dumping in the background to check it out

Hope it shows something, it seems to run ok while nistune is connected, as soon as it disconnects it reverts.

Motor still runs ok, but at around 13.5:1 under boost.

Debug file was without engine runnin, i assume this is ok?

Concentrate on fuel maps, its mostly mixtures.

Exactly the same knock maps as normal (both fuel and ignition), so its not just switching.

Tried it again several times today, as soon as PC disconnected, runs leaner.

Im goin to test fuel pressures and flow tomorrow, but i just fitted a walpro 255 lph pump, and rewired for full battery voltage.

PC connected to ECU shouldnt alter pump pressures but i'll eliminate it anyway.

*Edit*
Come to think of it matt, its probably pointless checking the fuel maps anyway, i have previously downloaded from ecu and did a comparirson with the bin file i have on the pc, there is no difference. It just runs leaner with pc not connected.

okay so the maps are staying in the ECU which is good

when you say the AFRs change when the PC is disconnected, is this when consult is not running - or when you physically disconnect the laptop?

what does the AFR change from / to?

When nistune disconnects they change from around 11.7-12 to around 13.5, under boost.

Just leave it with me for a few days matt, need to try a few things but i also need the time to get to it.

Ill get back to you on it and let you know.

Will need a debug log for this one

File-Configuration - Debug logging

1. Sync the image from the ECU
2. Save to disk (email / attach here file1.bin)
3. Make adjustments to the maps (ensure its saying uploading whilst making changes at bottom status bar)
4. Sync image to the ECU (just to make sure) then burn button
5. Save to disk (email / attach here file2.bin)
6. Power off engine and wait 10 seconds
7. Sync the image from the ECU
8. Save to disk (email / attach here file3.bin)

I will have a look to check file2.bin and file3.bin are the same (burn worked) and look at the logs to see whats happened between them
