RB25DET MAF Delete

Post by akane404 »

Okay so I have read up a bit on doing a MAF delete by using a HPX MAF. I have the following setup: Z32 ECU With a Series 1 RB25DET engine and RB25DET MAF. I would like to do this mod, I need to know how to wire it up, and if it will work in my 3.5 inch intercooler piping and what tuning needs to be done? I am very new to Nistune so if I am asking a NOOB question go easy please! haha anyway, I am really interested in doing this to help clean up my engine bay mostly, but are there any advantages / disadvantages to this?

MAF delete is the wrong terminology.. not deleting the MAF.

it will simply be replaced with a better one and installed in a new location such as your 3.5" interceptor piping where it has the capability to read over 650HP.
The wiring diagram is commonly available for both MAF's online or in one of the Nistune manuals.

you will need a MAF Bung welded in to the 3.5" pipe so pick the straightest section to install it.

Advantages are; brand new MAF, Throttle response is improved, increased Airflow range, slight increase in fuel economy with atmospheric BOV, easier fitment of pre-turbo ducting, Air filters, airbox etc.
Disadvantages are the work involved, cost and the time required to tune the engine once installed.

I figured I was probably wording it wrong, but thank you for the straight answer. I am definitely in it for the advantages and also the stock RB25 MAF does not seem to be reliable being that I am on my second one! But the disadvantages are good to know so thank you for putting that there as well. As for those 2 links, I will be checking them out asap thanks!
