a stupid question

Post by culater »

how many times can you burn to the chip? I haven't done it yet but am sick of having to plug in the lap top and messing with it to move the car around the shed. I don't have the cash yet to take in for tuning. if I upload a base tune can it be reflashed over when its dyno'd?

Hi,
Usually, several thousand times.

more than will ever be used in most street warriors.

My development boards have done 300 or so over course of 8 years, no issues yet.

Matt,

Out of curiosity and the lack of wanting to go outside on a 40+deg day.

Do you mean 10,000 or 100,000 cycles?

10,000 write cycles is around 27 cycles /day for a year.
assume 10 cycles /month, 80 years worth if the substrate hasn't deteriorated be forehand.

or

100,000 write cycles is 27 /day for 10 years.
assume 10 cycles /month, 800 years worth if the substrate hasn't deteriorated be forehand.

don't worry, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Non-volat ... ess_memory
either way, I'm more likely to blow one up from other causes.
