Nitrous Control

Post by Topdog781 »

Will there be any type of nitrous control in the future? If you look at Hodata's Oldest tuning system the s100 even that had nitrous controls and that was released over 8 years ago.....

When was Hondata first developed? How many people work full time on it? How many different processor types and vehicle models does the hardware run on? At that time there was nothing for Nissans apart from emulation programs and basic software.

We started selling Nistune about six years ago as a side project in addition to our full time day jobs. Currently for the last three years, I've left full time employment to just be working on Nistune software and firmware, and after that I still provide support, software updates etc. There is a lot of stuff going on in the background which nobody really sees

With this there is a larger amount of different ECU models supported than Hondata and in the last year I have updated ECU firmware to support these models:

Your post is one of the few requests for nitrous control on these forums so I figure it is not a much sought after feature compared to others like MAP sensing, launch control or flex fuel/map switching which I get many requests for (not to mention adding more models to our lineup). So everything has to get prioritised

Also is not mentioned which vehicle you were interested in nitrous control for? Yes I will be implementing something for limited vehicles which have a spare output which can be hijacked. For the moment I'm thinking Z32 (AIT solenoid) and S13-S15 can use the EGR out solenoid. I dont have a clear application list for where it would actually be implemented on just yet however. If people want a feature added I need to know which model and how many are actually wanting it. Nitrous is one of those things which cannot be used on a street vehicle legally to start with and not something which is very common here (Australia) but not sure with the states

Matt,
Could the launch control input be used for a second function (via nistune check box) to force the ECU to flick over to 'knock' maps instead of LC parameters?

The knock maps could then be used to dial in the ign retard and fuel enrichment for happy gas.

I'm thinking that instead we use the Flex fuel maps to offset the fuel and timing for launch control. The flex input is used as the trigger for adding/subtracting the extra map

Use this in conjunction with triggering a spare solenoid output for the nitrous relay (based on TPS, RPM and TP input checks to trigger the nitrous)

Depends on which ECUs people want this in as to what I spent time coding up
