RB25 Neo TPS reset/relearn

Hi all,

Anyone know how to reset the Neo TPS? Ive seached the interwebs and cannot find anything solid.

I can only set mine to 0.30v, anything over and it ups the revs to 2000rpm, adjusting the IACV does nothing. Also peaks at WOT at 3.63v. Obviously its out of nissan spec of 0.45 - 4.2v. Ive tried disconnecting the battery overnight, doing the key cycle 10 times thing.. nothing.

Anyone with any knowledge, please let me know!

Thanks

Does the ECU see your 'start switch' input?

No, it appears that it doesnt/

What is the "Start Switch" input related to?

When you 'start' the car the signal goes from the 'start' switch to the ECU (which should light this indicator)

It makes the ECU look at the TPS to work out idle position, as well as use start fuel and timing maps etc

The start switch being the key?

Would you know what pin on ECU it should go to on the neo?

And if it does see the "start switch", does that mean it zeros the TPS position as closed, so to speak?

Yes. Please check NEO service manual

What happens if i am seeing the "start signal" in the consult viewer?

I am not sure what the problem would be then. TPS learn uses start signal to perform learning

Hmm, confusing.

Thanks Matt

Hi Matt,

Could the neutral switch not being connected be causing this problem? i have tried every possible scenario to get the TPS to reset, but no luck. Im thinking outside the box, and maybe ecu needs to see neutral to perform the learning.

Potentially. Try wiring the line from the ECU to sensor ground and see if that helps

I would like to re open this topic. Not a neo but i have a rb25det. Mine tps has to be set to .10v for it to close the idle switch. Wot is about 3.6 as well. I cant figure out how to program it to idle at .48v. Im also having a problem when I'm lightly on the throttle in second. It will start leaning out and if I go to about half throttle it will be okay. Wondering if it could be a bad spot in the tps?

Watch the TPS voltage (engine off) to make sure it reads all the way. If so then that is good

TPS should normally be about 0.3 - 0.45V so losen the variable sensor part from the TPS itself and adjust until you get it in this voltage range

The ECU will look at the minimum voltage (in your car 0.1V?) and use that as when it is 'idle'. So the lowest point it reads is the minimum TPS voltage. If the throttle plate overshoots closing for some reason it may stop registering TPS idle all together

So in short
1. Make sure about 0.3-0.45V
2. Make sure when it snaps closed it doesn't undershoot
3. Make sure neutral switch only works in neutral
4. Make sure start switch works, as it does this to restart learning TPS position after key on crank

my neutral switch is not hooked up. Where do I see if my start switch is working?

Consult View window (single gauge icon at top of screen displays this). Also shows neutral switch input (must be inactive)
