N15 Almera board installation issue

Post by raddy »

Hi Matt, I would like to ask you for help with type4 board installation. I have n15 almera ecu,A18-E85 A08. I recieved type4 board with adaptor C from local distributor. Issue is that ecu have 2 rows W010 and W020,while adaptor have flex cable in 1 row with 40 pins inline, which cannot fit into 2 rows in ecu. Is this wrong type
of adaptor for my ecu? Thanks for fast reply.

Wrong adaptor Type (Adaptor C = ER34/WC34 only)

You need adaptor A (20 + 20 pins)

Thanks for confirmation Matt... Just another 3 questions:
1, is necesary here to connect additionall power supply and ground cables for nistune board?
2, what is correct configuration of J1-J3 switches on the nistune board for normal function for this ecu?
3, Did I understand right fitting instructions that there is 1 pin offset for row W020-pins 2-21?
Thanks again

edit: I just found that I have unused adaptor A, but not purchased from nistune. Designation says adaptor A, rev3, SR20-20+20, from PLMS. There are 2 rows as needed, designated SR20-2 that begins with square pad X1 and SR20-1 that begins with square pad X2. Would be this right one for above installation?

That is the correct Adaptor to use

Power wires only for the new Type 4 OBD-II boards (not yours)

Hi Matt
I would like to ask you for help with this type4 installation. It looks that Im not able to do it correctly,as ecu looks completelly dead after soldering flat cable for nistune board and installation. I really pay attention to let solder goes through holes and cannot find any pins that should looks wrongly soldered, but as ecu doesnt switch on at all, there is issue. I have got same issue some year ago with same kind of ecu and only solution was to send it to you for resolder. Can we organise shipping to you for check/solve also for this one? Can I ask you for complete address and conditions? BTW,what is so critical here? I never have single issue with other board types, just this one...is reason multilayer pcb?

Hi Raddy

It may be the case that due to using the incorrect adaptor for this ECU it has shorted something out.

If by any chance the VCC and GND lines were shorted together this will kill the 12V to 5V regulator on the ECU. This is okay since I have spares and they can be replaced fairly easily. Hopefully it has cause no damage to the board. I only ask for return postage to be covered. $40AUD covers express courier return of your ECU to most countries
