Hey Josh, Good to hear that you've got her all up and running. Your question about timing is one that has a myriad of answers. Everyone has their own way of doing it. And it basically comes down to knock detection. Where you engine begins to knock will depend on many things. The main ones being the ...

Hi,

I don't have a tune for that setup but I can help with some suggestions if you like. What you will find is that as soon as you turn the boost up your AFM will top out so take it easy there. Grab an R32 or Z32 AFM.

What tuning have you done so far?

I agree. It's an extremely effective upgrade. All you really need (I'm talking RWD cars here - but same deal) is the turbo, exhaust manifold and injectors off an SR20 turbo. Bolt 'em up, deal with a bit of plumbing, re-tune ECU and smile for months! The thing is, here in Oz anyway, all the DET peopl...

Hey Gabe, Yeah, we're not talking performance cars here. I originally bought the 121 as a get-to-work hack. But the wee beasty has grown on me over the years. Particularly after the engine transplant. It's from the same family of engines as the early Miata. I even put together some words. Which I wa...

Hey Gabe, Any progress on re-braining the 4AG? I've often wondered about doing the same to the Mazda B6 DOHC engine I've put in my Mazda 121. I've manually advanced the timing as far as I can (right on the edge of detonation at 1500 - 2000) but I just know there's hp to be had up top if I could add ...

Hey Ed,

Excellent work! You're a man after my own heart. I'll be interested to see how it responds to some boost. I did an S13 SR20DE+T a little while ago and it produced outstanding results.

Are you running it with the std P11 ECU?

I assume you're running std. injectors? In which case it should just be a matter of chopping down the values in the fuel table to get mixtures in the 11.5 to 12:1 area. With std AFM + increased boost they will tend to go straight over to the right most column (max load) as soon as full boost is reac...

Hi,

I've run SR20 AFM's to the limit a few times and never had an issue. I can't imagine that the R32 AFM would be any different. Sounds like a Z32 AFM is required anyway. What rwkw were you seeing with the std AFM at 5.1V?

I'll dig out the AFM pinouts and post them when i get home tonight.

Hi Bernard, Sorry for the delay. I don't get to browse the forums as often as I'd like. Good question. An SR running stock boost is a rare beast indeed! I don't know if there are actually any left!! About the only info I can offer is from a car I did the other day. And it doesn't quite fit the bill ...

Yeah, I've noticed the same with the 2871's. Some engines come on boost earlier than others with almost identical setups. That one I posted the link to is the best response I've seen. It's a great car to drive. They have all been on full boost between 3500 and 4000 but some are closer to 3500 and ot...

She takes awhile to wind up hey. But I guess that's not a big deal in a GTiR with their low final drive. Must be pretty awesome on the road! I've mainly played with the 2871's on S13 SR20's. So I'm quite interested to see how the 3071's go. The 2871's are usually "all in" by 3500 to 4000 b...

So it's true what they say about Q45 AFM's then - they may be larger dia but they top out earlier than a Z32.

Hey, Ed, have you got a HP vs psi of boost curve?
