Do you mean just the zener diode addition, or all of the modifications needed for the 86 ECU.

So in order for this to work, the modifications that were done to the ECU need to be undone?

I have an 88 300zx with a type 1 board installed. When I try to get my laptop to connect with the nistune board, I get the error message "Possible corrupt ECU Image." I thought I was following the instructions exactly and am not really sure what the problem is. Sorry if its a newb question...
