Re: Type 3/4/5 user tunes

Anything Type 3/4/5 sounds good to me, thread will get more activity being combined since this is a slower moving forum. I changed the title and propose a format of Engine: Injectors: MAF: Internals: Bolt-ons: Turbo: Notes about tuning experience: Just a proposal. I'll get my SR one up in a week or ...

Type 3/4/5 user tunes

Do we have a thread or resource to see peoples tunes? I've had a lot of questions while learning that could really be answered by looking at other's work. I know there's some danger with people loading other's images, but we're no strangers to engine dangers. The tuning example in the Tuning Basics ...

TP not getting read with engine running?

I've got an S14A SR and just switched to a Z32 MAF. It's running pretty well after getting K dialed in, but on one run I noticed my fuel map was tracing only in the left most column, even while accelerating. I pulled up the TP gauge and it stayed on 11 [msb], regardless of throttle/load, and I got o...

Syncing in Nistune 1.2 (Out of Sync! error)

I just installed a Z32 MAF into my S14A SR setup (only 550cc injectors so far), and wanted to start fresh from the 80F00 map in the ROM pack since the one on my ECU was pretty rough. I started with basemap S14A SR- 80F00, resized injectors (checked all - load scalers, max/min, and cranking tables), ...

Re: S14 SR20 starting tuning after 550ccs, basic questions

PL, you're awesome, all that's crystal clear. It's easy to forget that while it should all work smooth any configuration, it doesn't always happen that way. I'm gonna work on getting the Z32 MAF in and the car boost certified before digging in much more. Is there a thread or page with people's tunes...

Re: S14 SR20 starting tuning after 550ccs, basic questions

All the double work will be dialing in K twice, right? If the motor is setup well, then a proper change in K after a hardware change should result in similar AFR behavior if the fuel table is held constant? Does that happen much in practice?

happy weekend chaps!

Re: S14 SR20 starting tuning after 550ccs, basic questions

Good info PL, my K isn't there yet because I'm on 550s but not the Z32 yet. I should be able to tune the fuel map and just adjust K as needed when I get the Z32 in, correct? I know putting injectors/MAF in at the same time is recommended, I'm just trying to get out of the 8s for AFRs though until I ...

Re: S14 SR20 starting tuning after 550ccs, basic questions

Gotcha, I can do this. Once I get this dialed in, do we have a sticky for peoples maps/tunes where I can poke around?

Re: S14 SR20 starting tuning after 550ccs, basic questions

I'll do those steps, I like the setting of the table to a constant. I was wrong that the table/K can be changed similarly, I realize that the values in the fuel map are aiming for a specific AFR and the K needs to be set right for that to happen. For the load testing, any tricks there? Flat road, co...

S14 SR20 starting tuning after 550ccs, basic questions

(tldr & real questions below if you want to skip my intro story) Hey guys, finally getting my hands dirty with tuning and it's pretty addicting, especially with the LM-1 wideband log going at the same time as making changes. My SR20 is pretty stock, it's got all the bolt ons and a set of 550cc i...

Re: S14 SR20DET holding on to closed loop??!?!?!

Is there any news on this topic? I'm not having a problem at the minute but I'm about to get into tuning my S14 SR and this topic sparked my interest.

How did you guys know it's holding onto closed loop? The near 14.7 AFRs?

Matt or PL, did you guys ever find anything in the code?

Thanks all

Re: Very large duty cycle?! 130+

I think I cleared the fuel trims, I selected the test and hit the check box then hit the button and it said test started. After a bit of driving, AF Alpha ~ 100 AF Alpha Learn ~ 130 How do I know if 100 = 100% or 128 = 100%? If 100=100% I could see why my injection times are so dang high. If 128 = 1...

Re: Very large duty cycle?! 130+

"Happy new year chaps. Long break from 240 work but I finally got a fuel pressure gauge on. I'm sitting right around 49 psi which is 5-6 psi too high, most likely from the Walbro 190 LPH. Fine by me, I'll take the safety while sorting out this injector thing. Going to try clearing the fuel trim...

Re: Very large duty cycle?! 130+

Roger that Matt, I'll have a fuel pressure gauge and boost tester soon. I still don't understand how the injection times can be so long, why the ECU would even decide to make them that long. Even if I am having a fuel pressure/boost/MAF issue, I wouldn't think the computer can KNOW this and adjust m...

Re: Very large duty cycle?! 130+

Adjust K on stock injectors/maf? Doesn't seem right to need to do that :?

Let me see what the fuel pressure looks like, and I may just get these 550s in and see if that clears it up.
