Re: Nistune and SELIN DUAL MAF Translator

I guess the instrumentation and sensor isn't infallable. Mine is also richer on one side, you probably wouldn't notice if using analog gauges. I'd put my difference down to one sensor being a couple of years old with the other brand new and only having been free air calibrated once, apparently they ...

Re: How much timing to remove initially for high boost Z32?

Thanks Pete. Not sure how much I'd taken out initially, may only have been a couple of degrees, retarded the whole upper right hand corner of the map by at least 5 degrees now, and it seems to have done the trick. Driving sideways now with very little provocation ;)

How much timing to remove initially for high boost Z32?

Hi guys. What would be a sensible amount of timing to remove as a safe starting point for a Z32 running 1.4bar with all supporting mods? How many degrees and starting at which load column in the timing map? My guess was 5 degrees from the mid load column onwards, I have more trouble with knock in mi...

Re: Nistune and SELIN DUAL MAF Translator

Assume you've sorted this issue already but anyway, I'm using the Selin translator in ADD mode. K constant still needs to be adjusted if you're not using standard injectors. I found K needed to be a little lower than the default when resizing injectors, I think mine ended up at about 186 (default fo...

Re: Lean spot, not sure why?

Thanks Matt. Having read some similar posts I have my suspicions that the O2 flags are something to do with it, O2 sensors have been unplugged until recently, seems to run better at all engine speeds without them. I suspect one of them is stuffed anyway. I had set the load scales really quite high, ...

Lean spot, not sure why?

Hi guys. Car is generally running very well (Z32 TT, auto to man conversion). I've made quite a few mods and deletions, probably most significant for this issue is a Doolz intake and Selin Dual MAF translator and running 1.4 bar max although the problem occurs at much lower boost, even as low as 0.7...

Re: Erratic idle after Doolz install

Thanks for the replies. Matt you've got me thinking about the VQ map now, with the single intake idle is at about 1.45% (value 947) whereas with the dual intake it's 0.49% (319) - less than 1/3 of the 'normal' value, surely this would be too low for the ECU to accommodate correctly (i.e. appears as ...

Re: Erratic idle after Doolz install

Ok I've had to go back to the single intake for the time being. I think I'm close to the single intake limiting my power output now, the MAF sensor is getting to around 5V on full load. As mentioned previously, I'm getting some new filters etc to rule them out of the equation but concensus seems to ...

Re: Erratic idle after Doolz install

Thanks Matt. That's how I understood it but I was surprised to see how high the voltage was getting with the dual intake. I'm reverting to the single intake as my mods improved idle but made the car feel a bit odd on the overrun, at low speed and when lightly opening the throttle. The issue now is t...

Re: Erratic idle after Doolz install

I now have a nice idle and have been able to change K and latency to reasonable figures (i.e. they're no longer compensating for deficiencies elsewhere). I've not driven the car yet but I'm keeping fingers crossed that it'll be all good. All I've done is increase the value of TTPMin in the idle rev ...

Re: Erratic idle after Doolz install

Hmm...I just performed the reset and noticed the 'fuel pump relay' switch was red whilst I was looking at the consult vehicle display. I've never seen this switch on before, is that normal or does it indicate a problem? Car is still running so I assume the relay is working..

Cheers

Re: Erratic idle after Doolz install

Hi Matt, and merry Xmas. I've been looking at a couple of logs I made yesterday as I suspected some reversion, it doesn't look like reversion is an issue (I'm using BOVs anyway). It's weird, it'll run perfectly well with load but off load it's often all over the place :-\. The MAF sensor readings ar...

Erratic idle after Doolz install

Hi guys, finally got around to installing a Doolz intake today. I have an FMIC so I had to use the Doolz extensions to relocate the filters in the stock SMIC locations (300ZX Z32, what a PITA!). Problem is the idle is really erratic, if I set K to give me a reasonable AFR when on boost the car will ...

Re: Odd changes to TTPMax table on injector resize

Ok, thanks. I can't help noticing that the first half of the table/graph is the same before and after resize, I'm a bit confused as to why it would need to increase for the higher rpm values and not or the lower. Do I just need to 'guess' at a suitable final value for TTPMax or is there some science...
